HISTORY |
|
| |
In
the heart of the Vosges plain, crossed by the Madon, the town
of Mirecourt is the county town for a rural canton of 32
municipalities.
Founded during the first millennium, Mirecourt was above all a
place for trading gifted with its craft trades : stringed-instrument
making, organ making and lace.
Since the 17th century, supplies and the search for markets
led the stringed-instrument makers and peddlers of lace on the
roads of Europe and the entire world.
From that time, Mirecourt has preserved a fine architectural
heritage and has kept its strong commercial character.
