The canton of Mirecourt and aéropôle de Juvaincourt assemble around 400 craftsmen, industrial and commercial firms. The industrial activity in the urban area of Mirecourt is centred on the transformation of wood : two firms have approximately 1,200 employees and produce thousands of kitchen and bathroom units every day. Craftsmanship is well represented by stringed-instrument and bow makers. A firm of 40 people also makes 80% of the world requirements of bridges for string instruments. The tertiary activity is mainly traditional shops, superstores and the service industry. There are 188 permanent establishments covering all activity sectors of commerce and crafts in Mirecourt. The main characteristic of Mirecourt commerce is the almost complete absence of superstores in the town centre. An INSEE investigation held in 1997 revealed the attraction of the town of Mirecourt with a population of 10,035 inhabitants in the municipalities. The catchment area of Mirecourt covers the territory between Charms, Dompaire, Vittel, Gironcourt sur Vraine and Tantonville (54).
