HISTORY :

Early in the 19th century, Napoleon took away the "Michel and Marie-Madeleine" bell from Schwarzrheindorf in France. In 1806, it appeared in Mirecourt. - On 22 August 1957, two French priests, following the traces of St Pierre Fourier, disclosed this fact to the priest in Schwarzrheindorf. - On 2 June 1962, the municipal council of Mirecourt gave the go-ahead for the restoration of the Beuel-Schwarzrheindorf bell.
In recognition, the government of Nordrhein-Westfalen gave a gift of a new bell to the church of Mirecourt, cast in 1964 in Saarberg and baptized "Jeanne". - On 4 October 1964, the bell "Jeanne" was consecrated by Monseigneur Noél, Vicar of Saint Dié. - On 28 March 1965, the bell "Michel" returned to Beuel-Schwarzrheindorf, with six new bells.

BIRTH OF THE TWINNING :

It is from the exchange of bells, an unprecedented event in Germany, that the twinning draws its roots.
To affirm the willingness of the two cities to maintain the spirit of friendship and bring their young people together to consolidate the links that had been woven, the twinning charter was signed on 22 June 1969 by Mr Parisot, Mayor of Mirecourt, and Mr Steger, Mayor of Beuel.
